Cornyval

Cornyval is an annual Dement family tradition that we all look forward to. Pony rides, games, rides, lights, music, prizes, cotton candy, kettle corn, funnel cakes...what's not to love? Well, there's the crowds, dusty dirty ground, germs and trash everywhere, strange carnies, port-a-potties, waiting in lines, and ridiculously priced everything! But we manage to look past all that and always end up having a great time and making great memories...

So much to say about this pic- the glasses, the face... Well, the glasses were just a random choice on her part. She has a ...umm... let's say unique fashion sense sometimes. About the face, apparently the horse squished her leg against the bar right before they got started. Ruined the experience for her just a bit.

Looks like TJ was having a great time though.

Allison was determined to meet up with her friends from school so she was super excited when we found them. She really felt like a big girl hanging out with her friends and riding big rides. Poor TJ felt a little left out though when she ditched him for friends. He's not used to that.

Back to being best buds again after Allison's school friends went to eat. Just like old times! Although now they think a lot of the rides are "babyish" including this one according to TJ who says he was embarrased to ride it. One of the highlights of his night was riding the giant ferris wheel with Dad - it better have been after their 45min wait in line. Thankfully, Charlotte was snoozing in her sling while Alli and I hunted and hunted for cotton candy but were never successful. Still can't believe we couldn't find cotton candy at a carnival! She managed to spend her money on some other assorted crafts and stuff though. And I picked up some cotton candy at the dollar store the next day since I had promised her some.

A day and a half later on Saturday morning at the parade. The kids had the opportunity to be in the parade with the school and chose to do that instead of watch it, so Dwaine took them while I stayed home with Charlotte. Apparently it was long and very hot as evidenced by the way Dwaine smelled when I went to pick them up :) The kids enjoyed it but I think we'll opt to watch in the future.
That's Sophia in the pic with TJ - let's just say he likes her a LOT and talks about her often!

Allison on the float

By far the best parade float! That thing is crazy cool!

Backyard Fiesta!!!

To kick off summer just a little early, we recently invited friends over for a backyard BBQ and some swimming fun. We also figured it would be a good way to celebrate Fiesta (being that we live in SA) without actually having to go downtown with the masses - we had our own little fiesta instead...
All the kiddos- TJ, Luis Enzo, Stella and crazy Allison

Even the Daddies decided to join in the water play. The kids have been begging for awhile to put the pool up so they were super excited when it actually came time to swim. And having friends join them just added to the excitement.

Not sure what Luis Enzo enjoyed more- the pool or the Gator! He LOVES driving around on that thing!

Allison playing with Stella who came from China to her forever home with Eric and Marie on New Years Eve! She is super sweet and is starting to adjust to American culture - she must have eaten her weight in Cheetos!

Beautiful Sweet girls!
